I’m thrilled to share the amazing news that Santiago’s Dinosaurios is an award winning book!
It won a silver medal in the 25th International Latino Book Awards (2023)! 🦕 🦖 🎉
Can you spot the book among other winners? (Hint: Look in the first row).
It’s such an honor to see Santiago in such good company!

In the following graphic you can learn a little bit more about International Latino Book Awards.
As you can imagine just being selected as a finalist is a huge milestone that will forever be part of my author’s journey. The fact that there are so many books participating in different categories and with authors from different countries and languages, makes this award a true celebration of latin diversity.
🦋 The Mariposa Award is very special and inspirational because it’s given to the best book in 5 different categories, written by a debut author. This means that an author can only win this award once in a lifetime, and Santiago’s Dinosaurios won the silver medal for Best First Book in the Children and Youth – English category.
In the following box, you can see which books were the other winners in this category and what the ILBA judges had to say about each one:
I feel so excited and grateful that my debut got such a special distinction! I’m actually thrilled that the book won a Mariposa Award because I love butterflies so much, so this is very special and unique. If you want to access the whole list of 2023 winners in all categories, visit this link.
Finally, I want to share the following photo with the certificate I received, the medal and the stickers. Doesn’t Santiago look great? Thanks for celebrating with me and thanks for reading!
